Agra is a city offering a discovery of the beautiful era. Agra has a rich history, reflected in its numerous monuments dotted in and around the city. The earliest citation for Agra comes from the mythological era, where the epic Mahabharata refer Agra as ‘Agravana’ meaning paradise in Sanskrit.
The city lies in the Western part of Uttar Pradesh on the bank of River Yamuna. Though the wonderful allure of the Taj Mahal attracts people from around the world over to Agra, it is not a standalone attraction. The city offers a trail of fascinating tombs and mausoleums to explore. 1. Witness The Charm Of Taj Mahal: The massive ivory-white structure” renowned as the symbol of unconditional love, was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the loving memory of his third wife Mumtaz Mahal. This mausoleum, is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Often called the “Jewel of Muslim artistry”, this monument is a frequented tourist spot by people, from all the vertices of the earth.

2. Agra Fort: Here, you can witness mind-blowing beauty of Agra Fort. With rich historical background, this majestic fort marks its place in most-visited tourist place in Agra. Sprawling over an area of 94 acres, this fort has four gates namely the Khizri Gate, Delhi, Lahore Gate and, Amar Singh Gate. The mighty structure displays, elegant artistry of Hindu and, Mughal styles and, visiting this fort is one of the best things to do in Agra.

3. Fatehpur Sikri: It was founded by the Mughal emperor, Akbar. Exhibiting a fusion of Hindu, Jain and Islamic style of architecture, this city is built using the Red sandstone also called as the “Sikri Sandstone”.

4. Jahangir Mahal: Beautifully built Palace for Akbar’s wife Jahangir Mahal, is one of the remarkable places in Agra. Showcasing elegant Islamic architecture, one can take a glance at the exceptional artistry. The major source of attraction of this palace, is the huge bowl carved out of a rock, called the “Hauz-i-Jahangiri”, which was used as the container for fragrant rose water.

5. Jama Masjid: The Jama Masjid is one of the Largest Mosque built by the Mughals in India. This Masjid houses a rectangular open forecourt constructed in 1648 A.D by Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara Begum. The architecture of this monument is done beautifully while imbibing the Iranian architecture and is built using red sandstone and white marble .The construction of Jama Masjid required some 5,000 workers and was completed in a time period of 6 years.
